"There's few things more beautiful to observe than the small details of people's everyday lives. The intimate way we all relate to each other. The quirky gorgeous things that make our homes our own. The silly magnets on the fridge...the muddy shoes on the doormat. The plastic toys strewn across the bathroom floor. Every stage in life has it's own unique story to tell. The weekend your best friend got married and all the sweet drama that went on behind the scenes. The crazy day you finally moved to your new home. Your beloved tiny garden. The surprise party you threw for your partner. Or just a lazy day around the house, where nothing much is going on. Those are sometimes the best days of all. Fly on the Wall books is my attempt to document these stories. I started making these custom books for friends a few years ago, just by spending a few hours in their home, basically hanging out with my camera enjoying a cup of tea, clicking away. After a while people usually forgot I was even around, and just got on with stuff...and I became just a fly on the wall. The result was that I was sometimes able to capture images that seemed surprisingly honest, spontaneous and if I was lucky, truly reflected the beautiful light that seemed to exist in their lives. I'd then edit them together into a photographic story and simple publishing software would magically turn them into a pretty impressive coffee table book.
