In Italian it
means “beautiful view.” Belvedere is appropriately named
with its panoramic views of the San Francisco skyline, the
Golden Gate Bridge, Angel Island, Richardson Bay and Mount
Tamalpais. Marin’s smallest city, Belvedere was
incorporated in 1896. Only one mile long and a half mile
wide it is a very exclusive area with some of the highest
priced real estate in all of Marin County. In fact, in
May 2002, Worth Magazine ranked Belvedere number 8 on its list
of the richest 250 cities in America.
