In the 1880’s, Tiburon was a railroad
town. It served as a landing spot for the ferries that
transported passengers and rail cars the six miles across the
bay to San Francisco. The Tiburon ferries ran until 1909.
Modern day Tiburon, incorporated in 1964, has the Blue and
Gold fleet of ferries and is now a wonderful harbor community
with a lovely downtown area that boasts historic architecture,
waterfront promenades, panoramic views, great restaurants and
shops. From downtown Tiburon, ferry service is available for
San Francisco commuters and Angel Island excursions.
Many Tiburon
homes are built on hillsides and offer stunning views of San
Francisco Bay, Angel Island, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge
and San Francisco. Waterfront real estate with dockage is
naturally highly valued anywhere, and Tiburon is no exception.
